Smart heat pump protection gets new standard

Polluted system water is a disruptive factor that puts pressure on the efficiency, reliability and lifespan of the heat pump. For installers, this means unnecessary breakdowns, extra service visits and discussions at the front door. With the SpiroTrap Heat Pump Filter (HPF), heat pump protection is set a new standard.

Heat pump systems are more susceptible to dirt than conventional systems. Pumps and heat exchangers are more finely built, tolerances are smaller and volume flows are more precisely tuned. Dirt in system water therefore leads more quickly to wear, blockages and loss of pressure and efficiency.

This contamination of the heat pump system is already caused during installation and can worsen under the influence of oxygen entry. For installers, this means higher costs and increasing service pressure. Especially because heat pumps are a substantial investment for end users and reliability is therefore essential.

Prevent and remove dirt in your heat pump system with the innovative SpiroTrap HPF dirt separator with filter

New concept

The SpiroTrap HPF from Spirotech has been designed with the installer in mind. Ease of installation and maintenance were important starting points. Even the smallest particles can cause immediate problems in a modern installation. It is therefore crucial that dirt does not get a chance to cause damage. The goal of the SpiroTrap HPF is to remove this critical contamination from the flow as quickly as possible. A filter offers the solution for this, because it effectively stops particles above a certain size.

Trinity

The filter is the heart of the design. This was preceded by extensive research into particle size and risks in heating systems. Particles larger than 160 μm most often cause blockages and wear and are immediately stopped by the filter. With the SpiroTrap HPF, water flows into the separator and comes into contact with the Spiro tube, which ensures a calm, laminar flow. This causes dirt particles to sink down. Magnetic particles, such as magnetite, are captured by the powerful magnet. The remaining water then flows through a fine-mesh filter. This filter is optimized for capturing smaller magnetic and non-magnetic dirt particles that have not been removed by settling or magnetic capture.

No shortcuts

The SpiroTrap HPF works without a bypass construction. As a result, the entire volume flow passes through the filter. No shortcuts for pollution to slip past. The integrated MultiMode Swivel ensures ease of use. With one twist, the unit is in the correct position: open for normal operation, in backflush mode for cleaning, or closed for service. The tactile click positions provide immediate security during work. In addition, no additional valves are required.

Intuitive operation with the MultiMode Swivel

Swivel SpiroTrap HPF - Open

Open position

The system water flows continuously through the filter, capturing dirt particles, protecting the heat pump.
Swivel SpiroTrap HPF - Backflush

Backflush position

The water flows through the filter in reverse and takes the stuck dirt with it, to then be discharged via the drain valve.
Swivel SpiroTrap HPF - Closed

Closed position

The water no longer flows through the filter, so it can be cleaned.

Rinse without tinkering

It is not necessary to open the SpiroTrap HPF for a service. In the backflush position, the filter rinses itself clean by directing the water through the unit in the opposite direction. Dirt is removed directly via the drain valve, without dismantling and without tools. Manual cleaning is only necessary in the event of exceptional soiling. The unit is aligned with the standard heat pump maintenance of an average of once every two years. No additional maintenance moments, no extra costs in the planning. For installation companies, this means tighter service planning.

Less discussion, less cost

Heat pump failures can lead to difficult discussions about cause and responsibility. With the SpiroTrap HPF, you as an installer have a concrete tool to remove contamination directly from the system water thanks to the combination of filter, spiro tube and magnet. Fewer malfunctions mean fewer service calls, lower costs and a stronger quality position towards the end customer.

The SpiroTrap HPF is changing the practice for installers in a fundamental way: Structural protection of system components and easy and predictable maintenance.
